Abia police confirm decapitation of ASP in Aba

The Abia State Police Command confirmed the decapitation of an Assistant Superintendent of Police in Aba on Tuesday, May 2.

The State Public Relations Officer, Geoffrey Ogbonna, said the act was dastardly and highly condemnable. He appealed for information that would lead to the arrest of the perpetrators or anyone found with a firearm suspected to be unlawfully obtained.

“The dastardly act is highly condemned and the public is enjoined to help with credible information on the perpetrators or anyone found with a firearm suspected to have been unlawfully obtained,” Ogbonna said.

He said the “protection of identity” of the informant(s) is assured.

The ASP was beheaded by hoodlums early Tuesday, May 2, 2023, in Aba in retaliation for their kingpin that was gunned down by the police on Sunday, April 23, 2023, and further threatened more unrest in the state.
